Writing and Publishing News – Florida Christian Writers Conference

FCWC

I have long recommended to aspiring writers that they attend writers conferences. At these conferences, attendees learn more about the writing craft and the publishing industry, and they receive valuable feedback about their work. They also gain contacts with other aspiring writers, established authors, literary agents, and publishing house representatives. The networking opportunities are fantastic.

Since most publishing houses will not accept unsolicited manuscripts, and since getting represented by a reputable literary agent can be nearly as difficult as getting published by a traditional publisher, conferences are now one of the few ways writers can submit their work directly to an acquisitions editor and bypass the slush pile.

With regard to getting published, conferences worked for me. In fact, all of my books came to be published because of contacts I made at the Florida Christian Writers Conference.

As a result, I highly recommend this conference. I have attended nearly every year since 1997, and I am now the teacher for the teen track. So, if you are a teenager who writes, or an aspiring writer who happens to be older but can keep up with our pace and learning intensity, you are welcome to join our classes.

This conference takes place February 25 to March 1 this year, and it is located at the Lake Yale Conference Center in Leesburg, FL. For more information, go to this link – http://www.floridacwc.net/

As a bonus, conferees will get to know the dignified conference directors, Mark Hancock and Eva Marie Everson (seen in the photo below).

  1. From what I know of it, this would be my dream conference to attend! One of these days, I guess…
By the way, great picture of the directors! Dignified indeed.
