My Readers Rock!

DragonsRockPerhaps the greatest blessing I receive as an author is hearing from readers. They send me emails, letters, photos, drawings, such as this great rockin’ dragon sent by Sierra Reep, and even cookies. They tell me how much my books mean to them, and I am often overwhelmed by their testimonies.

I have heard from readers who have become Christians because of my books, are now walking closer to God, or have changed their minds about hurting others or themselves. To date thirteen teenagers have said that the uplifting messages in my books kept them from committing suicide.

On more than one occasion a reader has arranged a Dragons in our Midst party and invited other readers to come. When I went to one of these parties in the Atlanta area, readers came from as far away as New Jersey and Louisiana to get together for one afternoon because of their love for my books. What an amazing blessing!

When I go on book tours, I often meet readers who become good friends with my children, and now we have close bonds. Some have traveled from distant cities to spend time with our family. On one occasion, a couple of readers helped my family move from Orlando to Tennessee.

My readers are more valuable than gold. That’s why I reply to every email, every letter, and every author-directed post in my social media pages. It can take several hours each week to get to all of them, but it’s worth it.

Some readers ask for counsel regarding very difficult, even tragic events in their life. They don’t have anyone else to turn to. How could I ignore a single cry for help? As long as God gives me strength, that will never happen.

So, hats off to my readers! You rock! Without you, I could never be an author. Without you, I would have no reason to write. May God help me never to forget that as an author I am a servant, and I must always use my author’s chair to help others.

  1. Was I the only one who read this at first as “My Reapers Rock!” and got really confused? Haha.

  2. As the mom of a girl who has an entire shelf dedicated to your books (plus the Cantral Chronicles), I thank you for your attitude of humility and wisdom. May the Lord continue to bless your service to Him!

  3. I remember the first time I sent you an email or message, and I was completely shocked when I received a response. I am so used to the authors that might as well be in another dimension. I know you only mentioned the numbers on teenage preventions, but I know that you have at least one that your books helped prevent that was an adult. You have never failed to respond to my messages for advice, and in fact you have responded to my messages for advice faster than my friends respond to messages on Facebook. God has used you to help many people, and I want you to know that even if I was the only reader that you and your books ever helped, than I would still think that your books had changed the world. =) Oh, and I know I mentioned before the journal I started using, just thought I would mention it has a dragon on it. =)

  4. I can say from personal experience that some of your readers wouldn’t be here today if not for God’s work in you, Mr. Davis! Your humble focus on Christ and incredible kindness to your readers are the very things (other than your amazing writing skills, of course!) that keep me so dedicated to your work. I know I’m not the only one you’ve helped. You are an author in a million, and I am certain God will continue to do amazing things through your work.

  5. God has given you a great ministry, I’m glad that you’ve stuck with it. I discovered Dragons In Our Midst during high school when I was at the bookstore and during a time when I was having a hard time finding interesting books. I had picked up a book from Donita K Paul, devoured her Dragon Keepers series, then read the other good books in the Christian Fiction section. Mainly Ted Dekkers and yours 🙂

    • Love Donita K Paul books as well. I discovered her and my brother discovered Bryan Davis at the same time on a trip to VA. 😊

  6. I’ve only just recently started reading your books, Mr. Davis, but from what I’ve read so far – and how my sister talks about you – you’re a good, strong Christian author. 🙂

  7. Ever since my dad bought me Dragons In Our Midst and the Candlestone almost eight years ago (I think.) I have followed you and purchased all of your books. I have a bedside table that my mom and I made with a special shelf that holds my Bible and all of your books. Thank you so much for all of the love and experiences I have had and felt through your books.

    Much love,
    Jordan Scott

  8. As you mentioned, your books have brought me closer to God. Whenever I’m stressed out, or angry I’ll go to my room and read my favorite parts from you books and I’m instantly calmed. It’s great to know that your not a stuck up author, but you actually care about the people who read your books. I’m so glad and fortunate to have found your books.

  9. Thank you so much! I’m glad I found your books. Well, technically my mom and sister got me into it so. . .
Your books have got me closer to God. I read the second Oracles of Fire book, and was struck by them fighting, knowing they might not live tomorrow, but are totally fine with it because they’d see God and Jesus. They don’t sacrifice themselves thinking they’d be dead, like Marvels superheros, they know they’ll live eternally with their Savior. 🙂

  10. Thanks! I think you rock, too. Bonnie and Sapphira are great role models. Actually, all the good people are. I’m so glad that you take the time to answer us and talk to us. You are a gift from God!

  11. I remember sending you letters and you responding. I was awed that you even responded. You’re books are very inspiring. You rock!
